This program will prepare qualified, skilled and job-ready apprentices for various industries. The program will produce graduates skilled in the application, installation, repair, and calibration and tuning of electrical equipment and control devices used in a variety of industrial sectors.

This program consists of Foundation Heavy Mechanical Trades training and Level 1 ITA Apprenticeship Technical Training. There are four mechanical trades paths introduced in this program: Truck and Transport Mechanic (Commercial Transport Vehicle Mechanic), Heavy Duty Equipment Technician, Diesel Engine Mechanic, and Transport Trailer Technician.

There are four apprenticeship paths for the Heavy Mechanical Trades, with differing levels of technical training required for each: Truck and Transport Mechanic, Heavy Duty Equipment Technician, Diesel Engine Mechanic, and Transport Trailer Technician.

The new Heavy Mechanical Trades program consists of levels 1, 2, 3 and 4 Apprenticeship Technical Training. Upon completion of this course, students will be capable of working in the Heavy Duty, Truck and Transport, Diesel Engine, or Transport Trailer repair industry.

Heavy Mechanical Trades Apprenticeship program is designed to allow students to complete one of four ITA apprenticeships by using common core trades training courses between multiple training paths.

 Heavy Mechanical Trades Foundation certificate program teaches you how to service and repair commercial equipment such as trucks, crawler units, and farm tractors.

This nine-month program prepares students for entry level positions as apprentices in four trades: Truck and Transport Mechanic, Diesel Engine Mechanic, Transport Trailer Technician and Heavy Duty Equipment Technician. Students engage in a variety of classroom and shop activities. They learn theoretical principles of vehicle mechanics in the classroom.

The Heavy Mechanical Foundation program is a 36 week program that combines in school and work based training designed to meet the competency standards and profile defined by the Industry Training Authority.
